Our Values
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved."
Acts 2:42-47
Let the Word Grow
A sign outside one church read “Avoid truth decay; brush up on your Bible”. The Scriptures are the “go to” place to discover God and get to know him better. Sunday by Sunday, you can be sure of accessible, informative and challenging teaching from the Bible.
Let the Spirit Glow
Jesus promised his followers they would receive supernatural help through the gift of the Holy Spirit. As God’s community, we believe the supernatural gifts of the Spirit are for us today.
Let the Love Show
One huge way the Spirit makes a difference is enabling a quality of relationships that is “to die for”. In fact, Jesus did die for us. We are called to love one another sacrificially too. Everyone who thinks of St Michael’s as their spiritual home is encouraged to be part of a small group (most meet weekly). These would be invaluable at any time, but after so many months in which Covid has fractured the way we live everyday life, it is even more of a priority to get back into the swing of things by making new friendships and building one another up.
Let the Worship Flow
Followers of Jesus in every generation express their devotion to Him through their worship. Day by day and week by week, we live our lives to please Him and when we come together, our worship is often expressed in our singing, our financial giving and making every effort to live a life that pleases Christ.
Let the World Know
Many people today are on a search for spiritual truth and would love to encounter God, if only they knew where to find him. Jesus Christ is the one true God and doing all that we can to enable others to find him is at the heart of all we do. We are a seeker-friendly church.
